FillingimbalanceforPP,longGF-PP,elastomerPCandGF-PCinamulti-cavitymoldwithageometricallybalancedrunnerisinvestigatedbyusingthevisualizationglass-insertedinjectionmoldandinfraredthermometers,throughvisualizingtheflowbehaviorofthemeltintherunnerandcavityandmeasuringthemelttemperaturenearthecavityentrancesimultaneously.Inaddition,velocitydistributioninthesecondaryrunnerforPPandelastomerisalsodeterminedbyuseofmarkertracersinordertofurtherinvestigatethemechanismoffillingbalance.Theresultsshowthatthedegreeoffillingimbalancedependsonthevelocitydifferenceoftheupperandlowermeltanditsdevelopmentinthesecondaryrunnerduringthefillingprocess.Themeltviscositydifferenceintheprimaryrunnerdominatethemeltvelocitydifferenceinthesecondaryrunner.,andtheviscositydifferencedependsonthetemperaturedifferenceandviscositysensitivitytotemperatureandshearrate.Thedevelopmentofthevelocitydifferenceoftheupperandlowermeltinthesecondaryrunnerdependsonthemeltviscoelasticpropertyandtherunnerwallcondition.
