Biodegradablepolymerssuchaspoly-L-lactideandpolycaprolactonehaveattractedgrowingattentioninrecentdecadesfortheirusesinpackaging,medicineandotherareas,becauseoftheirenwronmentalconcern[l-2].Inordertofurtherimprovetheirprocessingandmechanicalproperties,theyareusuallyblendedwithotherpolymersandfilledwithinorganicparticlessuchasnano-calciumcarbonate(nano-CaC03).Inadditiontotheparticulatebiodegradablepolymercomposites,polymersfilledwithflameretardantssuchasaluminumhydroxide,magnesiumhydroxideandmicroencapsulatedredphosphoroushavereceivedincreasingattention[3].Meltshearviscosityandentrypressurelossesarecrucialparametersforcharacterizingthemeltflowbehaviorofparticulatepolymercomposites,andforthedesignofanextruderinjectionmoldingtool.Becausetherearelimitedstudiesonthetheologicalpropertiesoftheaforesaidcomposites,themeltflowbehavioroftheparticulatepolymercompositesystemssuchasnano-CaC03filledbiocompositesandflameretardantcompositespreparedusingatwin-screwextruderarediscussedinthepresentpaper.Thepropertiessuchasmeltshearflowrate,meltshearviscosityandentrypressuredropofthecompositesaremeasuredthroughacapillarytheometer,andtheirrelationswithfillerweightfractionaresummarized.
