Basedonthethermodynamicphasediagram,coagulationformationforPAN-basedcarbonfiberprecursorinspinningprocesswasinvestigatedinthepaper.Inorderthatthephaseseparationcantakeplaceattheinter-regionbetweenthebinodalcurveandspinodalcurve,PANprecursorwithvariousmicrostructureswaspreparedbygradientsolidificationprocessingindry-jet-wetspinning,whichcanbeacquiredthroughcorrespondingthermodynamicpathinphasediagram.ThemorphologyandmechanicalpropertiesofPANprecursorwereexaminedwithscanningelectronmicroscope(SEM)andmechanicalmeasurement,respectively.Meanwhile,theinfluenceoffiber-formingconditionsonthemicrostructureofPANprecursorwasdiscussed.Judgingfromourinvestigation,itcanbeconcludedthatformingpathofgradientsolidificationinternaryphasediagramwasoptimalthermodynamicpath.
