Grapheneshowsuniquemechanical,electronicandthermalpropertiesandhasgreatpotentialintechnologicalapplicationssuchaspolymernanocompositesandelectronicdevices.ThoughGrapheneoxide(GO)isoneofthemostwidelyusedprecursorsofgraphene,itsstructureisstillcontroversial.Inthispaper,themorphologyofGOinnanometer-scaleandmicrometer-scalewasinvestigatedbyhighresolutiontransmissionmicroscopyandRamanmicroscopyrespectively.ResultsshowedthatGOpossessesa“sea-island-hole”structure,inwhichoxidizeddomainswithlargearea(socalled“sea”)areinterspersedbygraphiticregionswiththesizeofseveralnanometers(socalled“island”)andvacancies(socalled“hole”).
