Nanomaterialsareoftenintroducedtoimprovethepropertiesofpolymers.Inthiscontribution,octa(tetramethylammonium)-POSS(OTMA-POSS),onekindofwatersolublenanoparticle,wasintroducedtocarboxymethylstarch(CMS)filmduringitsgelatinizationbywater,andmechanicalpropertiesandenzymaticdegradabilityoftheresultednanocompositefilm(NCF)withvariousOTMA-POSScontentwereinvestigated.ComparedwiththeneatCMSfilm,thetensilestrengthandelongationatbreakoftheNCFsweresignificantlyenhancedtomaximumvalues38.6MPaand14.3%asOTMA-POSScontentincreasingto0.4wt%.AndtheintroductionofOTMA-POSShadnoeffectonenzymaticdegradabilityofCMSfilm.TheresultsindicatedthationicinteractionbetweencarboxylgroupofCMSchainandammoniumofOTMA-POSSparticlehasimportantinfluenceonmechanicalpropertiesofNCFs.
