Theuniquefibrillationbehaviorofpolytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)pastesintheextrusionprocesswasstudied.Asthetensilestrengthandpostprocessingabilityofthenascentextrudaterelatecloselywithfibrillation,itisnecessarytostudythefibrillationfactorssystematically.Theeffectsoftheadditivesandtheircontentsontheformingofthenascentextrudatewerestudied.Itisfoundthatthelow-molecular-weightalkaneismoresuitableforthepasteextrusionthantheethanol.Andthecontentofadditivesplaysanimportantroleintheprocessbecausetheadditivesworkasabinderandareresponsibleforthefinalstrengthoftheextrudate.Theprocessingtemperatureandspeedinfluencethefinalstrengthoftheextrudatebyaffectingthefibrillationcapacityandkineticoftheparticlesduringtheextrusion.Temperaturelowerthanthesecondtransitionpointishelpfulforasmoothsurface;andmoderatespeedismoreconducivetotheformationoffibril.
